Behemoth - And the Forests Dream Eternally
I got back into record collecting recently, so expect more of these!
Early Behemoth kicks ass, especially And the Forests Dream Eternally. Released before the band changed their formula to lean more towards death metal, this release is dripping with black metal cliches: rough production and sound quality, furious blast beats and tremolo picked riffs, and shrieking vocal delivery that’s more reminiscent of early Marduk than it is of Deicide.
I’m a sucker for all of these qualities, so I love this EP. For me, atmosphere is everything for second wave black metal, and right down to the album art, it's present here.
