Entombed - Left Hand Path 🎵

I think by 2020 anyone with a passing interest in extreme metal knows about this landmark album, so there isn’t much I can say that hasn’t been said.

The buzzsaw-esque overdriven guitar tones and prototypical melodic riffing heard in this LP laid out the foundational base for the Swedish death metal sound that continues to evolve to this day. Standout tracks like Left Hand Path (and it’s keyboard heavy outro), Drowned (which has been covered countless times), and a personal favorite of mine, Supposed to Rot, will appeal more to fans of early Death than, say, later At the Gates, but despite accessibility, it’s an important history lesson in melodic death metal’s roots.
